Message from the Principal

Kia ora te whanau o te kura o Ranui

Warm greetings to everyone in their mirumiru (bubbles).  Our Ranui School staff are hoping that you are all managing to keep safe and as comfortable as possible in your bubble. This time has been a real reminder for us all that you, whanau, are the first teachers of our children.

Trust yourselves to make the best choices for your children. If there’s no space for each child to do what teachers are suggesting, do something else that works for you. Making up songs, strengthening your preferred languages, learning whanau songs and crafts, fixing up the bikes, whatever works. You all have so many skills and knowledge for your children to learn from.

If you have something that will work better – don’t take on pressures for your children to learn school ‘stuff’, keep it manageable so it doesn’t cause everyone a headache.

Thanks to those of you who have been able to share all the learning that’s going on in your homes.

  • We’ve heard about children who know how to; help do washing, clear up dishes, help their whanau with cooking and many other activities.
  • We’ve seen photos or sharing of the use of the new learning packs that have been, or are still being delivered to your homes and the learning teachers have been providing.
  • Facebook pages have been great for keeping in touch, well done everyone!

We have all heard about the possibilities of the move to Level 3 of COVID 19. We will let you know our plans if this is confirmed on Monday.

Until then, take care, be safe and enjoy your whanau.
